Hi.

I never thought much about turtles, until I painted a couple of them in the last year or so. I discovered I have quite a bit in common with the little critters:

  • They have a hard outer shell to deter creatures from eating them.

  • They also have a soft underbelly, but they don't like exposing it lest they get devoured.

  • They're a rather odd shape and look awkward when they're walking on dry land.

  • They can't roll over when they end up on their back.

  • They don't fit on fence posts, nor do they belong on one.

  • They've been known to snap.

  • They retreat into their shells when they sense danger in their environment.

  • They're happiest when they're just riding the current and not exerting a lot of effort.

  • They can live to be very old. (That's the plan, anyway.)

I'm not entirely sure where all this is going... the turtle metaphor, the blog, life... so how about we just catch this current and see where it takes us, 'kay?
